About the Author

Portrait of Lora, author and creative professional, smiling against a neutral background

I’m Lora A. Blackburn, (LoraBlackburn-Author.com) and my journey as a new author is shaped by years of working in the world of technology and a deep passion for personal growth. Before writing my books, I spent much of my career as an IT Specialist in the government sector, solving complex problems and adapting to fast-moving changes. Those experiences taught me resilience, patience, and the power of understanding how the mind works under pressure.

Outside of my professional life, I’ve always been drawn to self-help, wellness, and the pursuit of emotional balance. My writing is an extension of what I care about most, helping people gain clarity, build confidence, and navigate life with more intention and peace.

When I’m not writing, you can usually find me lost in a good mystery, suspense, police procedural novel, romance, or traveling through the imaginative worlds of science fiction. I also love cooking at home and exploring how the human body responds to stress, mindfulness, and holistic well-being.

Everything I share comes from a place of genuine desire to uplift and encourage others. My goal is to help you break free from negative patterns, trust yourself more deeply, and grow into the best version of who you’re meant to be, one insight, one choice, and one page at a time.

Drawing from lived experience as a grandmother deeply involved in raising a grandson with ADHD, this book offers a compassionate, realistic, and empowering guide to understanding ADHD and its close relationship with stress. From an early diagnosis that introduced a maze of medications, therapies, and sleepless nights, the journey revealed a powerful truth: with the right tools, mindset, and support, ADHD does not have to define a life of struggle.

ADHD affects millions of children and adults worldwide, and chronic stress often accompanies it—particularly in adults, who are significantly more likely to experience ongoing overwhelm. This book responds to that urgent reality by serving as a practical compass for individuals with ADHD, caregivers, and professionals alike. It guides readers toward greater clarity, emotional balance, focus, and productivity without relying on quick fixes or unrealistic promises.

Grounded in evidence-based research, psychological principles, and real-life experiences, the book blends science with humanity. Readers are introduced to a wide range of practical strategies, including mindfulness practices, cognitive behavioral techniques, and ADHD-friendly coping tools designed to manage distractions, emotional regulation, and daily stressors. Complex concepts are explained with warmth, honesty, and even humor—because resilience often grows best when paired with understanding and compassion.

Client Feedbacks

This really helped me understand how stress affects ADHD. I am eager to try the suggestions for focus and organization. I like that it mentions using digital tools, but to be mindful to not overwhelm yourself with to many of them. I’ve already started using several of the strategies such as establishing and maintaining routines and celebrating small wins. I will be recommending this to several family members

The writing is straightforward and encouraging, making it easy to keep going even when the topic is heavy. It doesn’t promise quick fixes, but instead gives you practical ways to build peace and confidence a little at a time. From thought patterns to daily habits, it shows how small changes can add up to a big difference.
For anyone who feels stuck in cycles of anxiety and self-doubt, this book offers a clear and compassionate path toward calm and a stronger sense of self.

ADHD people don’t approach life, or see life’s challenges, the same way the majority does. That creates special stress in the ADHD individuals. Many don’t feel like they fit. The author starts the book with standard organizational approaches and tools. I almost put the book down. But I urge you to push through that, because she does a good job of covering stress relief and mindfulness tools. Including music and art as tools for stress control.
